Mesotherapy and skin boosters
Using very fine micro-injections, active substances are delivered precisely into the desired skin layer. All injections are performed by Dr. Colle himself.
What is mesotherapy and what are skin boosters?
Mesotherapy is a technique in which small amounts of active substances are delivered directly into the skin using very fine needles, spread over a large number of injection points. Skin boosters are the products often used for this: preparations that hydrate the skin and support its quality, without the intention of creating volume or contour.
The difference from a classic filler is fundamental. A filler provides shape and remains in place as a defined deposit. A skin booster is finely distributed within the skin and aims to improve the skin itself: more moisture, more suppleness, more firmness.
How does it work?
Depending on the indication, a choice is made from various active substances.
- Non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid binds moisture in the skin and provides hydration from within, without altering the contour.
- Polynucleotides support the skin’s regenerative capacity and the activity of fibroblasts.
- Your own platelet concentrate, extracted from your own blood, introduces the body’s own growth factors into the tissue.
- Mixtures for the scalp are used in cases of hair thinning.
Administration can be done manually, using fine needles or a multi-injector, or automated with an auto-injector that provides an even grid and a constant volume per point.
Who is this treatment suitable for?
- dry, dull, or tired-looking skin
- initial loss of firmness and elasticity
- fine lines, particularly in thin skin
- neck and décolletage, areas that often show signs of aging earlier
- the hands, where the skin becomes thin and dry
- the scalp, for hair thinning
What happens during a session?
The skin is cleansed and disinfected. For more sensitive areas, an anesthetic cream can be applied beforehand; for many patients, this is not necessary because the needles are very fine.
Subsequently, the micro-injections are placed in a regular pattern, with a depth and volume adapted to the zone. You will feel short pricks and sometimes a brief burning sensation. When working with platelet concentrate, a small amount of blood is drawn and processed beforehand.
Afterwards, small bumps at the injection points are normal. These usually flatten out within a few hours to a day.
Number of sessions and results
Typically, several sessions are scheduled a few weeks apart, followed by maintenance sessions. The effect on hydration and radiance is often noticed quite quickly. The improvement in firmness and texture builds up more slowly, over weeks to months.
The result varies from person to person. There is an obligation of means and not an obligation of result.
What this treatment does not do
- Skin boosters do not provide volume and do not restore sunken cheeks, temples, or tear troughs.
- They do not tighten sagging skin and do not replace a facelift or neck lift.
- They do not correct the contour of the lips, chin, or cheekbones.
- Deep folds and heavy wrinkles will not disappear with it.
- The effect is temporary; without maintenance, it gradually disappears.
Safety and contraindications
The treatment will not proceed or will be postponed in cases of pregnancy and breastfeeding, an active infection or inflamed skin in the treatment area, coagulation disorders or certain anticoagulant medications, autoimmune diseases after individual assessment, a known hypersensitivity, and active cancer. Bruising at the injection points is the most common side effect and disappears spontaneously.
Aftercare
- Touch the treated area as little as possible during the first few hours.
- No makeup on the day of the treatment.
- No sauna, steam bath, or intensive exercise for forty-eight hours.
- Sun protection with factor 50 and no direct sun for several days.
- No scrubs, peels, retinol, or fruit acids for several days.
Combination with surgery and other treatments
Mesotherapy is often combined with microneedling or RF microneedling, as these techniques support absorption into the skin. When combined with radiofrequency, only suitable substances may be used; cross-linked fillers, vitamin C, and acids are never combined with radiofrequency.
Surgery restores the shape and position of tissue but does not improve the quality of the skin. See also PRP of the face and biofiller.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a skin booster and a filler?
A filler provides shape and volume and remains in place as a defined deposit. A skin booster is finely distributed within the skin and improves hydration, suppleness, and firmness, without altering the contour.
Is the treatment painful?
The needles are very fine and most patients tolerate the pricks well. For more sensitive areas, an anesthetic cream can be applied beforehand.
Can I return to work immediately after the treatment?
Usually, yes. Small bumps and slight redness typically disappear within a few hours to a day. Bruising is possible and may remain visible for several days.
How long does the effect last?
The effect is temporary and requires maintenance. After an initial series, a maintenance session is typically scheduled on a regular basis, tailored to your skin.
Is the treatment also suitable for the neck, décolletage, and hands?
Yes, these are common areas, precisely because the skin there is thinner and signs of aging often appear earlier. The technique and the product are adapted per zone.
