Why does hair fall out?<\/h2>\n\n

Hair loss is rarely a single issue. The most common form is androgenetic alopecia, in which hair follicles gradually shrink under the influence of hormones and produce increasingly fine hair until they eventually stop. In addition, there is telogen effluvium, a temporary loss following a major event such as childbirth, surgery, illness, or significant weight loss. <\/p>\n\n

Iron deficiency, thyroid problems, certain medications, or scalp conditions can also play a role. For this reason, a trajectory never begins with a treatment, but with an investigation into the cause. <\/p>\n\n

What happens during the first consultation?<\/h2>\n\n

The scalp and hair pattern are examined, your medical history is discussed, and a blood test is requested if necessary. If there are indications of an underlying condition, you will first be referred to a GP or a dermatologist. A regenerative treatment makes little sense as long as a treatable cause has not been addressed. <\/p>\n\n

Which treatment is used?<\/h2>\n\n

For hair thinning where the hair follicles are still present but weakened, PRP for the scalp<\/a> is used. A concentrated platelet-rich plasma is prepared on-site from a tube of your own blood, which is then injected into the scalp. The growth factors it contains are used to support blood circulation and activity around the hair follicles. <\/p>\n\n

Because it involves your own blood, no foreign substances are used. This makes the treatment suitable for people who do not want to or cannot take medication. <\/p>\n\n

In certain situations, this is combined with polynucleotides<\/a> or mesotherapy<\/a> to improve the condition of the scalp itself.<\/p>\n\n

What does a treatment course look like?<\/h2>\n\n

A start-up phase usually consists of three to four sessions with four to six weeks in between. This is followed by an evaluation and, if it proves useful, a maintenance schedule of a few sessions per year. <\/p>\n\n

Hair grows slowly and in cycles. A change in hair density or thickness is therefore only visible after several months. Anyone expecting a difference after one session will be disappointed; this is explicitly discussed beforehand. <\/p>\n\n

What can you realistically expect?<\/h2>\n\n

PRP is used to support existing, weakened hair follicles. Where a hair follicle is no longer present, no injection can bring it back. In a completely bald area, a hair transplant is the only technique that can add hair. <\/p>\n\n

The realistic goal is usually to slow down further thinning and improve the quality of the existing hair. Whether this is achievable in your situation depends on the stage you are in. This is an obligation of means, not an obligation of result. <\/p>\n\n
