A small amount of blood is drawn, just like a standard blood test. This blood is immediately processed in the practice using a medical centrifuge, which separates the platelets and plasma from the other blood components. The concentrate is then placed into the skin as small micro-depots.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The treatment is autologous: the material is derived entirely from yourself. No foreign filler material is injected; instead, a repair response is initiated. Processing takes place on-site, meaning the blood never leaves the practice.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to classic PRP, there are related preparations such as PRF, which contains fibrin and white blood cells alongside platelets, and CGF, a preparation with a high concentration of growth factors. Fibrine forms a fine network that releases growth factors more slowly. The most appropriate preparation depends on the area, the skin condition, and the goal of the treatment.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 id=\"hoe-werkt-het\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">How does it work?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Platelets contain granules full of signaling substances that the body uses to direct repair. The most important are PDGF, which attracts repair cells and stimulates fibroblasts to divide; TGF-beta, which directs collagen production; VEGF, which promotes the formation of new small blood vessels; and IGF-1, which supports cell survival. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By delivering the concentrate specifically into the skin, the tissue is temporarily placed into an active repair mode. This explains why the effect is not immediately visible: the build-up of new collagen takes weeks to months. <\/p>\n\n<h2 id=\"voor-wie-is-deze-behandeling-geschikt\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who is this treatment suitable for?<\/h2>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>a dull, tired, or lifeless-looking complexion<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>fine lines and loss of firmness due to sun damage or age<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>irregular skin texture and enlarged pores<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>neck, d\u00e9colletage, and hands, where the skin becomes thin and dry<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>supporting skin quality after a surgical procedure<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The treatment is less suitable when the actual concern is volume loss or sagging. This distinction is made during the consultation. <\/p>\n\n<h2 id=\"hoe-verloopt-een-sessie\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What happens during a session?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The skin is cleansed and prepared where necessary. For more sensitive areas, an anesthetic cream is applied and left to take effect for some time. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Next, blood is drawn and centrifuged. The concentrate is then injected into the skin as micro-depots using a fine needle or a blunt cannula, or combined with microneedling so that the product is absorbed through the micro-channels. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The entire process usually takes about thirty to forty-five minutes. Afterwards, the skin is red and warm. <\/p>\n\n<h2 id=\"aantal-sessies-en-resultaat\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Number of sessions and results<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A single session rarely produces a noticeable difference. In practice, we usually work with a series of approximately three sessions, spaced four to six weeks apart, followed by maintenance once or twice a year. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An initial change in texture is often noticed after a few weeks; the full assessment typically takes place three to six months after the final session. The response varies greatly from person to person and is influenced by age, skin quality, smoking, and general health. This is an obligation of means, not an obligation of result.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 id=\"wat-deze-behandeling-niet-doet\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What this treatment does not do<\/h2>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>PRP is biostimulation and not a volume filler. It does not fill hollows like a filler does. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It does not correct loose skin or sagging tissues and is not a replacement for a facelift or neck lift.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It does not replace a blepharoplasty for excess skin on the eyelids.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The effect is not permanent; the skin continues to age.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 id=\"veiligheid-en-contra-indicaties\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Safety and contraindications<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because it involves the body&#8217;s own material, the safety profile is favorable. However, the treatment is not performed during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or in cases of active infection or an active cold sore on the face, clotting disorders or certain blood thinners, a severely low platelet count or other blood abnormalities, active autoimmune disease, cancer under active treatment, and recent heavy sun exposure. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After the treatment, redness, slight swelling, and sometimes small bruises are normal. These usually disappear within a few days. <\/p>\n\n<h2 id=\"nazorg\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Aftercare<\/h2>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>No makeup for twenty-four hours.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No sauna, intensive exercise, or hot showers for forty-eight hours.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No scrubs, fruit acids, retinol, or strong vitamin C for approximately five days.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Daily use of a high sun protection factor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 id=\"combinatie-met-chirurgie-en-andere-behandelingen\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Combination with surgery and other treatments<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PRP is often combined with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.drcolle.be\/en\/dienst\/microneedling-for-skin-rejuvenation\/\">microneedling<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.drcolle.be\/en\/dienst\/rf-microneedling-skin-tightening-without-surgery\/\">RF microneedling<\/a>, which enhance absorption and effect. In cases of volume loss, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.drcolle.be\/en\/dienst\/facial-lipofilling\/\">facial lipofilling<\/a> or a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.drcolle.be\/en\/dienst\/biofiller-autologous-gel-from-your-own-blood\/\">biofiller<\/a> is often more appropriate.
